RSE is a short way to say RS-610-E being Respin V6R1 rev E
Looks like from the Link posted earlier
http://www-947.ibm.com/systems/support/i/planning/resave/index.html
LIC respins are Alpha and SS1 are Numeric
V7R1 is currently at -C and -10
V6R1M1 is currently at -D and -10
V6R1M0 is currently at -G and -10

I'm familiar with a re-spin, but what does a respin have that applyingLIC
cumes and groups doesn't bring to the table ?
Haven't heard the term RSE to describe a respin either - what does it
stand for ? Are you sure they are the same thing ?

Respins or resaves of the OS. Certain hardware may require that the
itbe a certain level before installation. Oh, it still may be 7.1, but
donemay have more PTF's built into it.
Also some "technology refresh" ptf's are very comprehensive and IBM
sometimes generates a new respin to allow you to get an installation
listwithout really having to step through some strange hoops.
Even with a new resave you should apply the latest cume and the latest
applicable groups.
I always use the latest resave from:
