I just downloaded it from http://tomcat.apache.org/download-60.cgi. I
installed it on my PC first so I could play with it, and eventually just
copied the tomcat directory into /usr/local on the i. As I recall, I
created the local directory because that's where I'm used to storing
stuff that I'm not expecting to get any support for. The java run-time is
a licensed program product. On 5.4.0, java 1.6 was delivered as a PTF,
but it's really a licensed product too. I'm pretty sure you only need
Java 1.5 to run Tomcat 6 though.
