Hi Rob,
not only IPL - you need to disconnect power cables so the service processor will restart.
Only at initialisation the service processor will have a look for the UPS so the
appropriate port will be set up as "ups" port.

Back on AS/400's I could do tests like this. Are you saying on Power equipment an IPL between each cable connect/disconnect is required? Or is it only required with the initial connection of the 1827 cable?
