So, not only do I need the 1827 cable connected during IPL but I also need
the UPS cable attached during the IPL? Major bummer! The issue is that
this UPS is a little odd and the cable from it HAS to go to this other box
from the vendor. This other box does two things. One, it converts the
simple loops done by the initial cable into (I hope) standard pinouts. The
second function is a splitter so that multiple pieces of equipment may be
notified if you are running on utility power or not (8 ports). The
initial cable uses only 4 wires. If I jumper one pair the AC light on the
"splitter" lights up. If I jumper the other pair the LB light on the
splitter lights up.

My thought was that I'd hook up the 1827 cable and IPL. Then I'd take a
small "standard" ups and hook it up and see if I get the
CPI0962 80 Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) now attached.
Then I would unplug that UPS and see if I get
CPF1816 80 System utility power failed at &2.
Then I would plug it back in and see if I get
CPF1817 60 System utility power restored at &2.
Then I would disconnect it and see if I get the
CPI0961 80 Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) no longer attached.
Then I would attach the cable from the splitter and see if I get
CPI0962 80 Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) now attached.

Back on AS/400's I could do tests like this. Are you saying on Power
equipment an IPL between each cable connect/disconnect is required? Or is
it only required with the initial connection of the 1827 cable?
