Just a note about RDP. I use RDP all the time over a VPN connection and it's serviceable at 768KB. I wouldn't want to use it all day every day, but it works. It's also serviceable on my wireless network at home (and it's just a g network). My bigger problem there is the size of my remote monitor - running RDP on a small monitor is painful.
