A couple weeks ago I posted about a ftp issue from a copier (Xerox) to
a directory in the IFS. The same copier had an option to write to a "network
drive". We did solve the ftp issue and the Xerox copier/scanner is working.
In this whole experience we did have two different tech calls to Xerox, and
in both cases there were issues on the copier.
a. needed a copier firmware update (for "ftp issues")
b. after the initial failure, the copier had flipped a setting that "locked" the
ftp client on copier from ever working...
c. there were multiple authentication options on copier, but only 1 was appropriate for our network.
d. I did have to change the ftp attributes on iSeries to *unix and have users
default to a home dir (which was ok for us)
e. I wouldn't do this option without a ftp exit pgm

also - have you checked the Security Audit Journal (quadjrn) for any failure messages ? There are also job logs that can indicate issues (can't remember job name)

SJL,

I think she just has her terminology a little mixed up. She's trying to
use a copier to store data on her IBM i DASD. She's trying to use
NetServer to do that.

She seems to be calling it "IFS" because she doesn't doesn't know the
right term. It's (unfortunately) *very* common that folks use the term
"IFS" when they really mean "access to my IBM i DASD via Windows
Networking" (which is really NetServer)

I respectfully disagree.

Access to network server shares via QNTC /is/ done via the IFS. Perhaps you
either don't understand how QNTC works, or have not got things set up
properly...

Jeff,

I like your selection and will keep it in mind for future reference,
however our ERP software is expecting something to be loaded into the IFS.
It will not recognize the QNTC whenI prompt to input path name.

Thank you for your input, it is appreciated.
