Dan,

Would this be an equivalent query?

Paul,

Yes, it is, and I'm surprised I didn't come up with that instead of the
incarnation that I did. Well, I sorta know *how* I did; I started with the
subquery as the primary query to find the most recent RVRRDT, and used that
to feed the main query.

Unfortunately, there's no way to qualify the outer reference (the 'b' in 'from
oprrfvp b') in a "Data Transfer from iSeries" transfer in Excel USING THE
DEFAULT "Process SELECT as Data Transfer format". I stumbled on this from
the Transfer dialog Properties panel, and so I tried changing it to "Process
SELECT as native SQL". Once I did that, the Data Options panel changed to
allow a wide-open SQL statement. Your rendition worked, as well as mine!

Thanks!
- Dan
