Dave,

The ACTUAL Upgrade will take between 6 and 8 hours, that includes
loading LIC, i5/OS, LPPs, and then applying PTFs and letting INZSYS finish.
This does NOT include backup prior to the upgrade, a backup after the
upgrade, or any of the conversions that must be done afterwards. Of course,
this also assumes you are using the latest I_BASE_01 CD.

You will only know how long the conversions are going to take AFTER
you have done the proper planning, and run ANZOBJCVN to insure that every
program you need will convert. I can tell you, allow 2 months to get
ANZOBJCVN to come out clean. Then you need to look at the library summary
report and determine how long the conversions are going to take. This will
be between 6 and 60 hours for most customers. Wide range, yes depends on
the number of programs you have to convert.

As with any upgrade, it's not about the actual upgrade, it's all
about the planning. So, easy how long is the upgrade, the hard part is how
long will this take from start of backup until the last backup completes.

Subject: V6R1 upgrade from V5R4

I know this is a loaded question BUT I had a customer call and ask, If we
decide to upgrade to V6R1 from V5R4, how long will it take?

The system is an 8203 E4A with over 58% disk free.

All I am asking is for a ball park figure as to the estimated time to apply
and complete the upgrade. I will be downloading the upgrade from IBm and
using image catalogs

Thanks
