I have never heard of a DB admin group for an AS400
I'm not saying that's wrong.
What happens (as in this case) a project definitely requires a new logical
over an existing physical (or even a new set of physicals and logicals)
I create new logicals and physicals whenever they are required

Any way Our DB Admin group do not agrees to create a LF.. I will Call an
SQLRPGFLE program which will return RRN of the TLR record so that I can
point at it correctly .

I know this sounds old, but - you can create a logical over an old
flatfile physical using substring fields. if you have no alternative
it actually works very well.

Flat file consists of single field.
