I posted in haste, because I'd installed a mod to a program, using a new
java class I'd developed and tested successfully in development, but saw it
failing in production. This is a RPG program using JNI to run java
classes. I developed the .class in RDp, and the first error I saw was
something about the java class not being for the correct version of java.
I noticed that the message from the JVM starting up was different in
production, indicating an older version of JVM being started, so I figured
that was the problem. I'll look at SystemDefault.properties again, but I
don't think either system specified the version of JVM to start.

Subject: RE: Setting default JDK and level

You can set stuff in SystemDefault.properties, sure... but that's a
Java property, not an environment variable.
The OP had copy/pasted a job log message that specifically referred to
an environment variable.
I guess it's worth checking SystemDefault.properties (in your home
directory as well as the system-wide one) but it doesn't sound like
that's what his message was referring to.
Maybe I misread. The subject implies one thing; the text implies another.
A helpful hint to the OP: That message is apparently (obviously?) an
extract from an error message from the job log. It's always helpful to
reproduce the message ID along with the message, rather than focusing on
some piece of the error message. Often the first-level-text makes the
actual problem obvious, and the "cause" is not always right.
