I'm currently working for a client that uses See/Change and I have never
used a better change management solution (for iSeries). Using it for
development and doing promotes is so straightforward that the learning
curve for your average developer will quite literally be a few minutes.
I would definitely recommend it over the other iSeries products I've used:
- SoftLanding's Turnover - which I view as unnecessarily complicated.
- some other thing that I can't remember the name of, it's used with the
Life400 system, whatever it's called it's not as good as See/Change.
I asked a colleague who has much more Thenon experience than me how he
would rate it and he says he wouldn't consider using any other change
management product for iSeries.
He also says that:
- it is easily configurable - it will only take minutes to set up new
environments or connections
- day to day use for development and promotes is also simple
- it's fully supported and current (so current that I'm waiting (and
waiting, and waiting) for the latest version upgrade to be scheduled so I
can get my hands on the plugins for WebSphere, will report back if I ever
get to see them).
So I would definitely recommend See/Change, it does exactly what it's
supposed to, and it's easy to use.
Of course, I've never used MKS Implementer so that may well be a better
product.

Software Change Management Tools
Hi all,
We are currently choosing a sofwarre change management tool for our
small iSeries shop.
One of the products we are looking at is See/Change by Thenon. Does
anybody on the list have any experience with this tool that maybe
you'd want to share ?
Any input would be appreciated.
