I get a message about working with console devices is disbaled in SST, which
I have seen before, so I can't use SST to fix this on the partitions
directly.

We looked for options under Work with Partitions on the Primary, but didn't
see what looked like what we wanted. I will double check the login we used
for SST on the primary to mark sure we were using QSECOFR.

Kirk,

If you have primary partition up, when you go into DST to work with
the partitions, there should be an option to do the "bezel functions" as
options next to each partition. Have you tried to do the 65+21 that way.

If you can bring up the partition into normal, can you go into SST
and go into devices and use the reset option next to QCONSOLE, or even just
create a new device called QCONSOLE2 and then use that in Operations
Console
on the PC.

Subject: Need help reseting Lan Console on LPAR'd 825

OK boys and girls, I don't know why this happended, but it did.

I needed to place several 17GB drives in 2 LPARs on an 825 running V5R4 so
NO HMC. I decided to swap the loadsource first by going in DST, stopping
raid and then using the diskcopy function like I have for many years after
placing the new drive in a spare slot. After the copy the system could not
find the loadsource and so complained to the console. I then completed the
same steps on the 2nd LPAR that I needed to do this to. ( I did not need or
do this to Primary partition just partitions 1 and 2. I then powered
everything down and pulled the old loadsource drives out and moved the
freshly copied 70GB loadsources into the correctl locations. Brought up the
Primary just fine but on both P1 and P2 it appears that the Access Password
between the PC and the paritions is now out of sync. I now found out the
client doesn't have their backup console since that PC was recently
wiped/formated and rebuilt. I can IPL the both partitions in Normal just
fine, but can get a console session to connect.

On a NON_LPAR'd box I could use the control panel and 65+21 my fingers to
the bone and reset it that way...

So Questions are:
#1 How can I reset/resync the current PC for partitions other than the
primary on a system that doesn't support and HMC?
#2 Will Restoring LIC put things back ?

thanks
