I am able to ping the 192.168.5.250 address from another system on the LAN,
so the network connections are setup correctly.

The TTL on the 192.168.5.250 address is 255. I wonder if this is too high
for the iSeries.

Try flopping LAN2 and LAN1, I find a lot of systems that are backwards
in the OS form the label.

iSeries: HMC1: 192.168.5.250
iSeries: HMC2: 192.168.16.30

Windows System:

LAN1: 192.168.5.12
LAN2: 192.168.16.20

LAN2 -> direct into HMC2
LAN1 -> switch <- HMC1 controlled by DHCP
