My reply would be "compared to what?."

Java on the i does not suck. I use it more and more everyday and have no
problems. I always question it when statements like that are used. Java can
perform, just like any language, poorly with bad code. IMHO a lot of bad
code comes from programmers trying to be too clever and/or trying to
"optimize" their code.

Because Java runs in a VM it takes more memory to run. .NET will perform
badly on an underpowered Windows box.

A lot of times people try to compare Java running on a PC to Java running on
a server. You will obviously get difference there. A server has a lot more
to do than the average users, probably even advanced users, PC.
