Partitioned tables requires you execute the SPENDMONEY command and buy DB2
multisystem or whatever it's called. Cool concept but I question the
added price for the subset of that product I would be interested in. I
also realize it wouldn't be a one-for-one on multimember files versus
partitioned tables. For example, on multimember files the developer may
put the group name in the member name and not in any column. For example
you may have the members: WEST, EAST, NORTH, SOUTH, ANTARTICA, ETC. In a
partitioned table you would add that as a column and tell the definition,
based on that column, which partition to stick the row into. There are
those who would find that a terrible waste of a $1.97 worth of disk space.
