Re: DB2 on Linux to DB2/400 using DRDA

I gather from sundry reading that ODBC (and other) drivers come with DB2 for Linux, but they can't be used to connect to IBM i databases without first purchasing a DB2 Connect "license".

What if the Linux server were used as a Web application server gateway for an unlimited number of users? Would IBM expect a DB2 Connect for IBM i unlimited use license?

If you have the "free" version of DB2 for Linux, it should be the
Personal Edition. There should be a Personal Edition of Connect. If it
ain't free, it should be cheap as (IIRC) it's a single user and not a
gateway product for connection to i and z.

You need a DB2 Connect license (duh). It's very expensive. We had a
quote for 30 users here, and the price was about 12k or something
around that.
