Sounds like you got it working...
We test our generator every Monday at lunch time. Then again that means
running the entire building off of the generator (it's rather sizeable and
this building does no manufacturing). It has automatic relays and stuff
in the event of a power failure. The UPS is there just to cover the flop
from utility power to generator. Somehow I've never noticed a light
flicker in the office. I've got a UPS at my desk and a laptop with
battery power (rather redundant, eh?).
