I sure hope you have a two or four core 8203, because if it is a one
core, you can't put any additional towers on it. You can only put an IOP in
an older HSL-2 attached tower, which is required to drive the IOA (2793 or
similar) for the SDLC protocol to be enabled on the card.

We have just installed a 520 8203 model E4A that replaces our 520 9405.
Our IBM business partner (who shall again remain nameless) was to
configure it so we would lose no capabilities but we can no longer use
SDLC without adding an expansion unit and cards.



We use SDLC to dial into clients' AS/400s . Many of these small clients
are on older models and most have little or no IT staff.



Is there an alternative to SDLC that will still allow i5 to AS/400
connectivity and would not require too much configuration on the target
system
