Re: Is MC Press Spamming anyone else a LOT lately?

A few weeks ago, I got a message from them saying that they needed me to verify that my contact info in the account was up-to-date, and that they were going to delete the account if I didn't verify it.

This seemed like a reasonable request (how else could they know when e-mail addresses, phone numbers, etc became obsolete? -- it amounts to routine housekeeping) so I logged on and verified my information.

Thereafter, like you, I started getting 2-3 ads from them every day. When I clicked their "For more information about your subscription click here." it showed that I had "reactivated my subscription" to the mailing list when I verified my contact information. I thought that was a little shady, myself... I've never, ever, asked to receive this stuff, so how could I reactivate it?

But I went into my MC press profile on their web site and told it not to send the e-mails, and so far I haven't received any...

remember that. And the email address that it's being sent to I never use
to sign on to any sites.

To unsubscribe you actually have to go and "edit your account". But, it's
sort of a trick since your email address is obviously harvested from
somewhere, so when you click "forgot password" it creates a NEW account
for you which in order to unsubscribe from the emails you have to fill in
all of your contact information first.

To me, that's pretty shady. But, what can you do.. :)
