No, I can not access the box remotely with the thin client. That is why I
need a solution.

If there is a SRC on the system display will the thin console let you
see
it? The HMC will.
If the machine is powered off and you want to start it up in a manual
IPL
versus a Normal mode will the thin console let you change the panel
settings? The HMC will.

We have a d/r box that we plan on moving to a location about 3 hours
from
where our production is box is located. We replicate via MIMIX to the
d/r
box. It has a thin client console attached currently. What is my best
route, lan console or purchase an HMC, to be able to remotely connect
in
order to perform maintenance duties that require a console for
restricted
state? I have heard some negative comments about lan console, but was
not
sure of the cost of an HMC.
Just trying to avoid a 3 hour one-way drive, if possible.
