Hubs don't assign IP Adresses.

You will need to install the Operations Console, which is part of
System i Access for Windows. OpsCon runs a little BOOTP Server, which
will provide the system with an IP Address.

Please note that prior to the POWER6 Hardware with it's ability to
share ethernet adapters, the OpsCon will require a dedicated LAN port
(not card) on the system.

Best use a crossover ethernet cable to connect your laptop to the machine.
