I completely agree.

I think it's the thought process that needs to be changed. A UI should be
just that a UI. It should just be there for the "user interface". Displays
the data and sends the input data back. It could be writen in C#, Java,
HTML, or whatever you choose. A back end program should do all the
processing on the data.

I think we need to get away from the 5250 data stream. Taking that and
attempting to parse it into a graphical object to me is just silly. Maybe we
could get a XML data stream or something like that. Then connectors could
easliy be writen to parse XML and do what they will with the data.

IMHO, we as developers need to change the way we design programs. Validation
for green screens needs to be moved to either a separate program or a
service program. No more huge programs that display data, update data, write
data, etc. It needs to be separated.
