They could, please don't laugh, open source it. The problem there is there
does not seem to be a big open source movement for RPG like there is for
Java.

I do think the ISV's should invest in updating their code though. They are
willing to keep charging for an old code base and IMHO they are part of the
problem.

If I had the time I would love to do it for free. If that's the only way it
was to get done. I might worry a bit more about this as I still have another
35-40 years before I can even think of retiring. If for whatever reason RPG
and/or the i goes away, I'm stuck. I do some work with Java and I'm really
trying to learn more, but my RPG is MUCH stronger.
