As the president of an ISV firm, I get frequent calls from HP on this
subject. The calls are from "drones" and they have as much knowledge
of our "beloved IBM server" as a 5th grader!
Earlier in my career, I was asked to teach an "AS/400" class at my
local community college (that was the name of the product at that
point). Imagine my surprise when I found out that they were using an
"AS/400 emulator" ... like HP is advocating. That was a real
eye-opener for me!!!
Emulators always end up being a POS ... because there is no way to
economically duplicate the richness of system function and
effectiveness through emulation for a complex product like our
"beloved IBM server". Needless to say, there was a "real" AS/400 put
in the budget and installed by the end of the semester ... thanks, IBM
"Partners in Education" (or whatever you are called these days)!
It amazes me that they think that ANYONE involved with our "beloved
IBM server" would buy any of this ... but then, they probably use this
for a CEO/COO/CFO sales call where they think that they can
steamroller them with the "HP Reputation" ... but then, I have seen
ERP companies use the same "absence of truth approach" with
CEO/COO/CFOs for years. <grin>
