The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.

There is an API but that on it's own would not constitute "automatic"
change. It's QZLSCHSN.
Twice in 2 months, a client's iSeries has "crashed" (not completely
but
caused other critical applications to fail) because the NetServer name
mysteriously changed.
Forsooth, NetServer is a steamy crock of shit and verily it stinketh.
I can't figure out how that could happen unless it was done
manually by
someone.
API or via Navigator or just yet another anomaly in the morass that
is NetServer.
The API, and therefore Navigator, requires *IOSYSCFG to change the
system name so it can't be done by just anyone (unless you also have
security issues to address). Are you current on all NetServer PTFs?
Are you using WINS to resolve to NetServer? If so, is that correct?
If your "other critical applications" truly are critical then you may
be better served by using NFS to export shared mount points. These
can be addressed from WinDOS (which is where I presume your
"critical" applications are running--although that begs the question)
by using the NFS client provided as part of the optionally
installable Unix Tools that should be on your WinDOS install media.
You may also find it better to allow NetServer to be accessed by the
system name as well as the NetServer name. This may at least "work
around" the current problem. You can set that attribute with another
API or via Navigator. Then you could change your "critical
applications" to use the system name.

Simon Coulter.
