The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
You can use it as an NFS server to store IFS files. You could also use
FTP to transfer files to it.
Samba/Netbios shares would be iffy at best unless you're using Samba
API's on the iSeries. We have built a commercial wrapper around the PASE
Samba API's on the iSeries that could be useful. QNTC may work, but very
flakey.
Backing up data to save files and copy to the Linux box is a nice usage.
We have customers using Linux servers to store images for use with our
document management software as well.
All good food for thought.

Hi all,
We have a debian box here we intend to use as a cheap ATA SAN and are
wondering what options we have available for using this for DASD on
our
ISeries.
Any suggestions?
