I wasn't suggesting you were stupid, and my apologies if it came across that
way!

Anyway, it doesn't depend on the QIGC setting of the machine (on my machine,
which does not have QIGC=1, the fields are still defined as 937 when open).
Open fields are always 937 when the CCSID used is 37 (and there is not a
CCSID defined in the DDS).

In this case, your jobs Default CCSID is 37, which is based on your language
Id (ENU) because your jobs CCSID is 65535 and you cannot CRTPF CCSID(65535)
when using DDS.

If you want the field to be defined as open and CCSID(65535) then specify
the CCSID in the DDS.

Does that make the mud any clearer :-)

Crispin.

Oh, I already said that...

Crispin -

In the area of CCSID, I'm ignorant - not stupid.
You are correct. The job CCSID is 65535.

My original question was why is it using CCSID 937 on the Open fields.
I did not have CCSID(937) coded on those fields.

Is it because 937 is used instead of 37 when the double-byte version of
i5/OS (system value QIGC = 1) is installed?
