Hi Matt

That's interesting.

If FTP is an option you could (maybe) set up something in the FTP exit point
to set the ASP group. I haven't tested this, it's just a thought.

If the remote command is between two i's then using a DDM file correctly
configured using TCP would also probably work.

In terms of a remote command from a PC, I don't know how to deal with this
other than the suggestions I made before of submitting a job with the
appropriate IASP included. Or you could modify any custom commands to set
the ASP group appropriately as part of processing.

Regards
Evan Harris

Subject: RE: Remote Exection and IASP

Evan,

Sorry, I meant the RUNRMTCMD use of remote execution, rexec in windows
gives me the same feed back and it looks like all connections to the
remote execution server perform the same (RUNRMTCMD, FTP RCMD and rexec
have only been tested by me).

We are only using one IASP in our configuration, so there is no real
need to know which IASP to connect to. The problem is that remote
execution server sets the IASP group properly but it only uses the
"*SYSBAS" version of the library list (QUSRILBL). If I run the command
SETASPGRP I can make the system set the library list based on the user
profile running SETASPGRP.

We want to see if there is a better way to get that set automatically,
instead of building a command to be the intermediate between RUNRMTCMD
and the actual target command to run. We want a method that does not
require special knowledge of the use of an IASP.

ODBC seems to set the IASP and library list correctly for the remote
user. Remote execution does not.

Submitting a job is not always the best method. We have a couple jobs
that rely on the response from the job finishing and/or output returned
to the source system before continuing the processes.

Thanks, Matt
