I was thinking of a BMW/Mercedes - the top of the line models with
some extra stuff added usually clock in at 200'000 CHF to 250'000 CHF.
That's without insurance, gas, licenses, etc.

That is true - but you can say that their decision is good and well
done, or that their decision is bad. This may not change their
behaviour, but one of them gives you the option to say "i told you so"
- which is so very important to keep me from going insane :)
