The message was very vague. Said an error had occurred and to check the
printer. Even with message level set to 4 0 *SECLVL, there was nothing else in
te job log. Since it works as a remote output queue when set to *HP5SI, I only
tried the HPPCLDRV. However, I did not think that would work since the
infocenter page said it would not. I was only curious as to why it does not
work when the printer does indicate that it supports raw port 9100. Some years
ago, I became acquainted with two command line options for a Unix command:
"cooked" and "raw". Thus the curiousity concerning the reference to raw port
9100.

According to what I read at the infocenter, a Xerox M20i only works

anyway. The spool file triggered a "load form type" message.
Then, spool file
status went to PND. A few minutes later, the writer ended. Only
message sent
was an *INQ stating that there was a problem.

And WHAT was that message? "A problem"--great. What was in the print
writer job log?

According to the printer's web page, it can handle raw port 9100
printing.

Does the "raw" imply some other meaning related to port 9100?

What system driver program did you specify? What does the printer
expect (PJL, SNMP, something else)?
