There are XML Extenders to the database - they let you use SQL to get at XML data, I believe - they might be a cost item but if you need it just once, install it and use it for 70 days.

There's a manual under database at infocenter - give it a good read as to setup.

Yeah, I saw that too, and that would be perfect except for we don't
have the extender and this isn't a priority project, and it's not a
one time thing. I think we need it, and I'll put in a request for the
extender for the next upgrade, but it won't help with this project
unless I get confirmation they'd do it.
