I don't think anybody was confirming anything one way or the other. If anything, I assume the opposite with MySQL for AIX, thus the two versions, one 32-bit and one 64-bit. That would be so that neither 32- nor 64-bit apps needed to thunk to call MySQL.

I have no idea what various AIX apps do; I suspect you would have to ask each vendor.
