No downsides, as long as the system never loses power unexpectedly..... IIRC, this feature enables asynchronous journaling without commitment control. In the event of a sudden power outage, you could end up with missing journal entries....
Check the batteries on your UPS's, please...

Performance. Our question is whether there is any risk in doing this.
Could installing and using the Journal Caching for our busy production
journals have any downside?
I know that if we have an unplanned outage we can, and probably would,
lose some transactions, but we are willing to take that risk.
