If you want the best get HMC, otherwise you LAN Console. You win in

The HMC is good, but impossible to sell to 515 / POWER6 520 1 Core
customers - to them, the price of the machine alone is already quite a
burden - paying an additional 6000$ just for what is essentially a
screen for a server which already costs 5 figures is *insane*.

People that regularly deal with 570/595 models will never understand
this - it's just a different economy.

The problem is also that the Thin Console was a very good replacement
for customers that no longer had Twinax printers. It was easy to use
for non-IT staff (small customers never have their own IT staff), and
it worked and worked and worked. Similar to the Twinax Console of
yesteryear.

Operations Console is not really an option. It is not idiot proof, it
requires a full, separate machine. Running Windows - and IBM had a
serious record of using a variety of hacks for operations console,
which made the XP version break more than once when Microsoft fixed
bugs in XP.

Dropping the Thin Console was a really bad call.
