Long field names in DDS -- MIDRANGE-L

Is there a way to use a field name longer than 10 chars in DDS?

It's a DDS printer file and I want some fields that in a qualified data structure. A field name like QFDS.FIELDNAME is too long. I looked for continuation possibilities, found none. Looked for a keyword at the record or field level like QUALIFIED(QFDS.) that it would put in front of the field name. No luck there either.

Am I SOL?
