I believe V5R4 has added some implicit type conversions into SQL, including character representation of numeric variables.

You do realize that 123456 12345678 123457 Will all appear as CORP 12345. But a plain 1234 will appear as a new CORP
If that's what you wanted then that's pretty cool.
