Seems to me that the major difference shows up in the archives. An archive search for [rexx sq1] for example could show a few very nicely targeted posts, or it could show page after page after page of posts that had no useful content because of multiple replies after thread-drift where 'rexx' and 'sq1' were mentioned way back down the thread.

BTW, I deliberately typed 'sq1' to help reduce hits where the last character should be an 'L'.

We are the ones who put the value in to (or drain the value out of) the archives.
