The compiler ignores everything after the ENDPGM. As previously tested on this list, you can free format type in the Twenty Third Psalm starting on the line after the ENDPGM and it will not be flagged as an error. In fact, if it doesn't drive you nuts to find your comments in the bottom of the source, that's a good way to document without the /* */ pairs.
I hear rumors of back before my time that it was recommended to put the comments at the end. Actually sped up compilation or some such thing.
