On a related note, has anyone looked at Pentaho as a BI soulution for System i?

JFreeReport - Open Source Reporting
Kettle - Open Source Data Integration (ETL)
Pentaho - Comprehensive Open Source BI Suite
Weka - Open Source Data Mining

Just wondering if anyone has run this on our platform....

How about an idea from left field? There's an open source solution
called Jasper Reports - Java-based, I think. It's become quite
popular - we are embedding it in some of our new products. Not sure
how it would work with VB, but there is a designer piece, too.
http://jasperreports.sourceforge.net/ will get you started, perhaps.
Oh, I did see that there is a drill down piece that goes along with it.
