From re- Pete:
No. The Cume and the Groups are different. As I understand it, the
Cume is for base OS and that is it. Way back when, ALL you got was a
Cume and then as the OS became more sophisticated there would be
"special" PTF's grouped together to take care of specific issues. I was
never a sys admin so I can't say what the evolution of the Cume vs
groups was, but the first group I recall having to order in addition to
a Cume was a database group. Groups used to be a rare thing. Now they
are pretty standard.
Each group covers a different program area or installed licensed
program. Hit F11 on the wrkptfgrp screen and you can see what each
group is for:
SF99530 CUMULATIVE PTF PACKAGE C7016530
SF99529 GROUP HIPER
SF99503 DB2 UDB FOR ISERIES
SF99314 TCP/IP GROUP PTF
SF99301 WEBSPHERE APP SERVER V6.0
SF99275 WEBSPHERE APP SERVER - EXPRESS V5.1
SF99269 JAVA
SF99173 IBM BUSINESS SOLUTIONS
SF99099 IBM HTTP SERVER FOR ISERIES
You can see I am a bit behind on my PTF Cume and groups (I'll do that
over Christmas. I spent Thanksgiving building a new WinTel server -
some holiday....) Anyhoo, the Cume will address base OS fixes and
enhancements. Best to get it and have all you bases covered.
I think when you finish this round you should order the "Kiss me, I'm a
Sys Admin" T-shirt! Fun, ain't it?

Ah ha! I went back into FixCentral and realized why I didn't select the
cume one. I thought that was one of those dropdown summary section
groupings type deals. I have now just ordered it. Will this help
considering I updated all the others manually outside of the cume? My
understanding of the cume is that it would cover all the group PTF's I just
loaded - is that correct?
Thanks Pete,

Aaron,
Don't un-cork the champagne just yet. Your cumulative package is
over 1 year old. How come you are so far back. Did you just get the Group
PTFs, and not the Cumulative package. That is SF99530.
