I remember this being done, but the IBM engineer did it for me. He was
replacing (and I not kidding here) a rubber band in the drive. IIRC, he
pulled the update down and applied it from the iSeries. I do not think a
pc was ever involved. Do you have hw support? If so, have you considered
calling IBM?

Good morning folks,
Have any of you updated firmware on a 3581 tape drive or autoloader? I
need to do this and need some direction because I don't quite understand

the different methods outlined in the Service Guide. Can it be done
from
our system i 520?
