RE: V5R4 and 8GB drives

Yeah, I just figured that out, Bryan. Just goes to show how hardware
illiterate I am. I think that maybe this whole little project will be a
good one for me.

It looks like I have five RAIDed drives, and now I have to decide what I
want to replace them with. And it looks like I need the model 6718 drives,
since I currently have 6717's in the box. It looks like some of the others
might require a different controller and they don't get me anything, since
nearly all the drives are 10K drives. (It would be nice if I could get a
few of those 4326 35GB 15K drives in there <grin>.)

Joe, unless you have the sidecar or expansion unit for the 270 you only
have space for 6 drives.

assume you had 6 raided drives
you space avail would be about 40 gb.

if you go with 2 17gb mirrored and 4 8gb raided
you will have about 41 gb.

if you have 6 mirrored 8gb drives you have 24gb avail
and if 2 17' plus 4 8's mirrored you have 33 avail

either way you are good
