Joe, unless you have the sidecar or expansion unit for the 270 you only have space for 6 drives.

assume you had 6 raided drives
you space avail would be about 40 gb.

if you go with 2 17gb mirrored and 4 8gb raided
you will have about 41 gb.

if you have 6 mirrored 8gb drives you have 24gb avail
and if 2 17' plus 4 8's mirrored you have 33 avail

either way you are good

Absolutely. Okay, I think the answer is to just do my normal backup, then
go with the 17GB drives and a scratch load of V5R4. I'll stay mirrored with
eight disks and depending on the number of 17GB drives, I can bump up my
DASD a little bit.
