The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

I think I get your point. I haven't worked with perl, but one other thing to consider is that PHP and Python also run under the PASE version of Apache, and there are quite a number of supported resources available for getting them running, which might be 90% of what's required to run perl. It wouldn't surprise me if Zend Core for i5/os also used sendmail.
