The success or failure of the reorganization for the System i will depend on how the reps are trained. When I bought my first AS/400 (anybody need a used F2?), I had to deal with an IBM rep who just finished two weeks of RS/6000 school. He couldn't spell "AS/400," and the configuration he sold me did not work. It took two months of consultants to learn that I needed a particular ASCII terminal as the console. MY old VT100's were not satisfactory.
I fear what we'll see is that individual reps, being human, will try to make their own lives simpler by selling what they know. For many of them, unfortunately, that will be System p or System x. It will take serious training, and quotas, to get them to think otherwise.
