It sounds like your iseries cannot resolve the host name you were given.

Check in CFGTCP option 12 and see if you have a DNS server(or two) defined.
Check with your network folks to make sure you get a good DNS server address.
You might also check your PC's network settings for a valid DNS address.

I am working with a client who needs to put/get from a vendor's url.
We already do FTP to an internal server with no problem. No ports are
restricted on the AS/400.

However when I attempt to ftp to the external site, I get 'Cannot find
host'. When ftp from my company's AS/400 to this same site, I get past
this error.

The client's AS/400 now resides in a new parent company's network. What
do I need to ask the network guys/gals to do to allow access to the
outside?
