Pete,
Been trough that stuff last week. More then one possible ways to do things
:
1. You can use either ASM or SST / 8 / 4 to configure your LAN Console
port IP address on the i5, and store it (F7)
2. Your PC Console has to be on the same network as the i5, of course. In
my case, the i5 LAN Console port (T5 on my 520+) has xxx.xxx.xxx.111, and
the PC Console has xxx.xxx.xxx.114
3. If you had already done that, and you have a password mismatch between
server (i5) and your PC, two ways to correct it :
(a) HMC : if you have access to the server on a HMC, go to (mine is in
french, so terms may be incorrect) Service applications / Service focal
point / maintenance utilities. Select your machine, and from the Selected
menu, select Command panel operation functions. Again, select your machine
or LPAR, and then Desactivate maintenance function (65). DO THIS 7 TIMES.
Then go back to your PC Console, check if your IP Address for the server
in your OP Console definition is OK (in my case xxx.xxx.xxx.111), and try
to reconnect.
(b) If you don't have an HMC, you'll have to struggle with 65 + 21
functions on the operations panel to inactivate 7 times the 65 function.
Good luck,
