It's not hard at all. The fixes are loaded either from an FTP server or DVD in the HMC's drive. The HMC instructs the FSP to load them and from where. If the updates are concurrent then nobody knows (Although console sessions tend to go away for a couple minutes but they come back). If the fixes are disruptive then you stop all partitions and then apply.Once the FSP is back you restart your partitions. Maybe 1/2 hour or so.
