Are your tape units under 24/7 IBM maintenance? Or are they coded as customer
replaceable? We had some difficulty putting our 3570 under maintenance but
finally got it done.

Happy to say that I got my second replacement 3573-L2U (TS3100) tape
drive. And this one is working for now. Took a few combinations of
concurrent maintenance on the 5702 card, power cycles of the tape drive,
goat sacrifices, etc to get it working but once I did I was able to
successfully complete a full system save.
