Hi Willie,

During the week we do a SAVCHG of all our Production libraries and some
selected others. On Monday nights, I do a full SAVLIB of all Production
libraries, along with the before mentioned other libraries. For Month
End, we do full SAVLIBs, SAVSYS and about all of the SAV* commands there
are.

All saves start at about 2:00 AM. The Daily runs about 1hr and the Weekly
and Monthly run about 2.5 hours.

We do run 24/7 but everybody knows the system will be unavailable during
the backups.

HTH,

Nick

Subject
SAVSYS & SAVLIB(NONSYS) during week

Well management has changed their minds again. At first the decided that
if month end fell during the week, the month end procedures would stay the
same. Now they do not want the lengthy down time that it would require.
Among other Net Work saves, we also stop the Sub-Systems and do a SAVSYS
and SAVLIB(NONSYS). They do not want to give up the convenience and
security that this kind of backup gives.
I would like to here from others on how they handle these two save if done
during the week, or how they handle a month end backup during the week.
I am begging to see Dilbert's point of view...
Thanks,
William Moore
